Everton’s search for their first January signing continues but the club are looking to make something happen.
It has been a solid start to life back at Everton for the 60-year-old David Moyes, but there is certainly room for improvement.
No additions have yet been made in the transfer window, but the club are keen to change that.
Moyes is eyeing another full-back signing at Everton this month to bolster the options he has inherited.
Defence has not been the biggest issue for the Toffees this season with their ability to score goals coming under real pressure.
However, there is a lack of options at left-back with Vitaliy Mykolenko the club’s only senior player in that position.

Everton showed interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney
Moyes has already tasked Leighton Baines with improving Mykolenko which may well suggest the Everton boss is not totally satisfied at left-back.
But Moyes will have to stick with the Ukraine international for now with no real competition for the position.
According to The Telegraph, Everton are one of the clubs who have shown an interest in the Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this month.
The Scotland international is set to see his contract in north London run out at the end of the campaign.
However, a move to Merseyside already looks to be off the cards with the 27-year-old set to sign a pre-contract to join his former side Celtic.
It is clear the Toffees are happy with their current left-back as Everton have opened talks with Mykolenko over a new deal.
But another senior option to provide competition for the spot in the starting XI surely would not go amiss.
Kieran Tierney’s injury record is a real concern
The report claims Tierney has turned down potential moves abroad and to other Premier League sides to return to Parkhead.
Although Sky Sports’ Kris Boyd previously praised Tierney as ‘unbelievable’ he looks set to return to Celtic with a seriously worrying injury record.
| Injuries since 2022 | Games missed |
|---|---|
| Hamstring | 18 |
| Adductor | 2 |
| Hamstring | 6 |
| Hamstring | 13 |
| Knee | 14 |
Mykolenko has been criticised at times this season, but one thing he cannot be faulted for is his availability.
The Ukraine international has started 19 of Everton’s 21 Premier League games this season.
