Everton are in the mix for more new signings – and the Toffees are said to be willing to make a swoop for a player from Atletico Madrid.

Two new players have come in so far this summer for Everton.

Thierno Barry and Mark Travers have arrived to bolster David Moyes’ squad, while Carlos Alcaraz turned his move permanent after a successful loan spell.

But fans want more new faces, with the squad currently looking thin after so many exits.

Moyes is thought to be prioritising a right winger at the moment. And in recent days, Takefusa Kubo has emerged as a top target for Everton.

But seemingly, the Everton manager could also be looking to strengthen the opposite flank, with interest being reported in an Atletico Madrid star.

Last season, fans had a tricky time watching Everton wide players.

Iliman Ndiaye was fantastic in his first term, and much will be expected of him in 2025/26.

But there was real frustration for Everton fans over the likes of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom, both of whom have returned to their parent clubs Leeds United and Napoli after their loans.

It may well be that Moyes wants to get Ndiaye into a central role in 2025/26, so there could well be scope for a new signing for that left side.

And apparently, according to Spanish outlet AS, Samuel Lino of Atletico Madrid is a player Everton may be willing to swoop for.

Lino joined Atleti back in 2022 and has racked up 93 appearances so far.

But he’s a player Diego Simeone is no longer counting on, and Atleti are ready to listen to offers for the Brazilian, as per the report from AS.

It is suggested a Premier League move could be on the cards for the South American.

AS stop short of suggesting an asking price for Lino.

But the star has two years left on his contract and is out of favour, so he may not break the bank.

And a potential move for Lino by Everton could be quite exciting.

First of all, he can play as a left winger or a left wing-back. At times we have seen Everton essentially operate with wing-backs, with Jake O’Brien tucking inside to form a three with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.

So Lino’s versatility could be very handy.

And then there’s his actual style of play.

Breaking The Lines reported in 2023 that Lino is ‘a very dangerous player with the ball at his feet looking to dance away from the players and he is never afraid of taking multiple tries to search for the missing piece in his team’.

Furthermore, they said Lino is ‘a defender’s nightmare as he always tends to outrun them with his quick feet and put the goalkeeper into greater concentration as he never gives them a moment of rest’.

Certainly, it would be nice to see ‘a defender’s nightmare’ up there supporting new centre-forward Barry, as well as the likes of Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil.
