One familiar face can be ruled out of a potential return to the Everton coaching staff with Sean Dyche now sacked.
A shocking few hours unfolded at Everton on Thursday afternoon when the club’s FA Cup preparations were disrupted by the sacking of Dyche.
The Friedkin Group had met with Dyche earlier this week, but the message seemed to be that he would be given the chance to turn things around.
Clearly, that was not the case as the new owners on Merseyside made the decision to move on.
With numerous names being linked to the role at Goodison Park, TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has provided Everton News with the latest.

Lee Carsley will not accept Everton assistant role
Speaking to Everton News Bailey has relayed his information that Lee Carsley will not be looking to take on the potential role as David Moyes’ assistant.
It is understood Everton have now offered Moyes a short-term deal until the end of the season as they look to make an instant appointment.
The deal on the table will take the 60-year-old until the summer, where the Friedkins will then assess the job done.
Lee Carsley would be keen on the Everton manager role, but that could mark somewhat of an unnecessary risk for the new owners.
Having tested himself as Sir Gareth Southgate’s interim replacement, sources say Carsley is now expecting to take on a managerial role in the next 12 months.
Lee Carsley has confidence to take on managerial role
Having managed England’s U21s, the interim job as Southgate’s successor was the 50-year-old’s first senior role in management.
Having come out of the six-game spell with five victories to his name, Carsley admitted the run filled him with a lot of confidence.
“I think it’s given the staff and myself the confidence that we can do the job,” he told the England website.
And it was apparent his players also had a lot of respect for the way he handled the position, with many England players sharing their appreciation for Carsley.
| Player | Comment |
|---|---|
| Jude Bellingham | “Huge thanks to Lee and his staff for their work in these last few camps. Got my smile back in an England shirt, very grateful!” |
| Jack Grealish | “What a guy & manager! Absolute legend and thank you for bringing back the enjoyment in an England shirt.” |
| Jordan Pickford hailed Carlsey | “Been class to work with the gaffer & the staff over the last two camps. Now we move onto a new era in 2025.” |
But coming into a Premier League side under the threat of relegation could be a completely different challenge for the former England boss.
Ironically, Southgate is a candidate sounded out by Everton with the Friedkins doing their due diligence.
