What Peterborough fans could be heard chanting about Everton star Ashley Young is absolutely brilliant

Everton have secured a spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup following victory over Peterborough United.

A strange day on Merseyside was capped off with Everton’s first victory of the new year against the League One outfit.

Sean Dyche was sacked as the Everton manager just a matter of hours before kick-off at Goodison Park.

But there was still a job to do for the players, with the Toffees in need of a morale-boosting victory following a poor run of form.

Without Dyche, the Toffees were able to get back to winning ways with a late penalty sealing a 2-0 victory against the Posh.

Peterborough fans aim chant at Everton’s Ashley Young

Everton were managed by Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman in Dyche’s absence and they got their side over the line.

But there was one subplot which did not exactly develop between Ashley Young and his son Tyler Young.

Reporting for BBC Sport, Shamoon Hafez shared what the travelling fans were heard singing towards Young.

“You’re just a *rubbish* Tyler Young,” sing the Peterborough supporters as Ashley Young makes his way onto the pitch,’ he said.

Young faced the prospect of coming up against his 18-year-old son on Thursday night, but the youngster only watched on from the bench.

Tyler Young wanted to nutmeg Ashley but it will be his father who returns to the family home with the bragging rights.

Nathan Patterson impressed from right-back

With one of Everton’s right-backs managing the side, Nathan Patterson came into the starting XI in place of Young.

And the Scotsman put on a real showing for the home fans as he got 73 minutes under his belt.

Patterson is wanting to leave Everton this month with his game time extremely limited under Dyche.

However, with his compatriot David Moyes set to be appointed the new Everton manager, he has not done his chances of playing more frequently any harm whatsoever.
