Everton’s long-awaited takeover is close to being completed.

The Friedkin Group are set to takeover Everton and the deal should be completed before the end of the year.

That should allow Everton to spend a bit more money during the January transfer window as they aim to avoid relegation once again.

Everton have already identified talented playmaker Stanis Idumbo, though, he’s just suffered an adductor injury that could rule him out for a few weeks.

Sunderland’s Chris Rigg has also been linked to Goodison Park but they face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool.

It should be an interesting window for Everton under their new ownership, however, the last 24 hours have just revealed a problem they may encounter.

Friedkin Group could cherry pick best players and managers for Roma not Everton

The Friedkin Group are set to sack Roma manager Ivan Juric and they have already begun the process of identifying his successor.

In fact, Roma are eyeing Graham Potter to potentially take over after the owners previously held discussions about appointing him at Everton.

That should be a cause for concern among the Everton fanbase as it suggests the Friedkin Group may cherry-pick the best managers and players for Roma, instead.

Potter has been tipped to be the ideal replacement for Dyche, so it would come as somewhat of a blow if Roma did land his signature.

Has the last 24 hours shown where the Friedkin Group’s priorities lie?

Roma also make contact with Maurizio Sarri

Roma have also made contact with Maurizio Sarri, who is another manager who’s previously been linked to Goodison Park.

In fact, Sarri is Dan Friedkin’s number-one target to take over Everton, but that plan could be binned if he decides to bring him to Rome.

It seems the new ownership have a conflicting interest as Roma and Everton will likely be shopping in the same pond for managers and players over the next few years.
