Everton are closing in on a deal for Hayden Hackney, but it may spell bad news for one current Toffee.

David Moyes will be keen to make a quick start in the summer transfer window following Everton’s poor end to the campaign.

Big improvements are needed on Merseyside, with Everton keen to make Hackney their first addition of the summer.

How would you feel about Hayden Hackney becoming Everton’s first signing? 🤩

Although that may come as positive news to supporters, it could spell bad news for Idrissa Gana Gueye and his possible future at the club.

Everton keen to make Hayden Hackney their first signing

Although the summer transfer window has not officially opened for business, clubs are keen to get a head start before the World Cup kicks off.

For Everton, that clearly means getting a deal in place for Hackney, who is wanted by a number of other Premier League clubs.

The latest on Tuesday morning suggests the midfielder is keen to make the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Idrissa Gana Gueye could now be set for Everton exit

Following his injury issue, Gueye has now joined up with the Senegal national side ahead of this month’s World Cup.

Gueye’s camp have delayed his Everton contract extension, with both the club and the player’s camp having to green-light the clause’s activation.

What would you do with Idrissa Gana Gueye this summer? 😬

With the World Cup just weeks away from kicking off, Everton will surely be keen to find a resolution on Gueye’s future sooner rather than later.

With Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner, Merlin Rohl and even Harrison Armstrong already at Moyes’ disposal, the possible arrival of Hackney could spell the end of the road for Gueye.

The 36-year-old’s decision to delay his contract extension could ultimately cost him a spot in the side.

Everton supporters know just how much Moyes values an experienced player, which could just save Gueye regardless of who is signed this summer.

However, one thing that is certain is just how bloated Everton’s midfield options will become if Hackney is signed.
