Everton have been one of the form sides in the Premier League since David Moyes’ appointment at the turn of the year.

David Moyes’ appointment was met with some uncertainty at the time, but he’s silenced those doubters with his Everton side now 17 points clear of the bottom three.

The Scotsman has implemented a much more attacking style, which the Everton players have certainly taken to after a pragmatic regime under Sean Dyche.

Beto has been one of the most improved players, whilst Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye have formed a tremendous partnership in midfield.

James Garner has been a key fixture under Moyes, too, however, he was surprisingly dropped to the bench against Arsenal last week, and he wasn’t too happy.

James Garner upset by being dropped vs Arsenal

James Garner started eight games in a row leading up to the Arsenal game, but Moyes opted to name him on the bench.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Garner admitted it was a decision which really ‘disappointed’ him.

“I was disappointed last week, I won’t lie,” Garner admitted.

“When I do get my moment and chance, I’m just hoping to put in a good performance for the team, but of course for myself as well, because that only puts me in good stead to play the following week.”

Garner was brought back into the starting line-up for the win against Nottingham Forest and he revealed that Moyes didnt actually say anything about his decision.

“To be quite honest with you, the manager didn’t say anything to me. I’ve just worked hard this week in training, I’ve got my chance again this weekend and I think I had a decent game.”

Garner put in a great shift against his former club

Garner’s Sofascore statistics against Forest were really impressive, so it’s certainly fair to say he’s staked a real claim to Moyes after being dropped the previous week.

The 24-year-old was assured in possession and conducted his defensive duties incredibly well, winning a whopping seven duels.

The former England youth international is sure to be a mainstay at Everton for years to come, given his age, and he is keen to grow with the club.
