Everton have been linked with a move to sign former Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who is currently plying his trade at Al-Ahli.

David Moyes wants Everton to sign a striker in January, as Beto has been underperforming since his move to Merseyside and Thierno Barry is yet to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Was it a mistake to let Dominic Calvert-Lewin go? 🤔

There is a chance that Beto leaves in the January transfer window as well, making it imperative for the Toffees to rope in a replacement.

Sources issue update on Ivan Toney move

According to i news, Toney could do with a move to the Premier League as he wants to play himself into contention for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The English forward got his Three Lions call-up when he was performing with Brentford in the top flight, but has been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel.

Everton are viewed as a good fit for Toney as Moyes‘ style of football would complement the 29-year-old and potentially get the best out of him.

However, sources have played down the possibility of him moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the coming weeks.

Alan Myers predicts Everton transfer activity in January

Even though Toney will not be joining, the Blues are expected to be active in the January transfer window.

Currently in 12th, Moyes would be targeting a top-half finish and potentially challenge for a Conference League spot, depending on who they manage to sign in the coming weeks.

Alan Myers, an expert on all things Everton, also predicts transfer activity this winter with the owners set to back Moyes.

Despite Angus Kinnear tempering expectations on any deals in January, the former Sky Sports news editor does see the possibility of multiple new faces through the door.

Myers expects Everton to sign a striker, a full-back and a midfielder in the coming weeks.

Links to a striker are the most prominent, but Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has also been mentioned – one worth keeping a note of.

Also, if Adam Aznou leaves for Ajax, there is a chance that the Toffees enter the market, potentially on loan, to sign a replacement for him.
