Injuries have been a real issue for Everton this season with numerous long-term injuries suffered across the squad.

David Moyes has been able to dramatically turn things around at Goodison Park with the Toffees now 13 points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite only being in the job for a month, the Everton manager has already been hit with multiple injury blows.

Iliman Ndiaye will be out for weeks after the forward suffered medial ligament damage in the Merseyside Derby.

But the Senegal international has not been Moyes’ only absence needing to be considered with numerous other players sidelined.

The latest injury news coming out of Everton has now sparked a reaction from a number of the squad members following the victory on the weekend.

Everton’s Jake O’Brien reacts to Orel Mangala injury update

Orel Mangala suffered knee ligament damage in the victory over Brighton & Hove Albion a couple of weeks ago.

The midfielder’s injury came in the latter stages of the game and is set to keep him out for the remainder of the term.

He has now undergone surgery to clean up his knee with defender Jake O’Brien, one of the players to share their messages of support for Mangala.

Taking to Instagram, Mangala shared some images out of his hospital room following his knee surgery.

‘Surgery was successful – thank you to the medical staff that helped to complete it! Now my recovery begins,’ he said.

This post saw O’Brien share his words of support for the midfielder as the Ireland international responded: ‘Speedy recovery bro’.

Despite the long-term injury, Everton fans want to see Mangala signed permanently after forming a solid partnership with Idrissa Gana Gueye in the middle.

Mangala has impressed many this season after signing on an initial loan deal from John Textor’s Lyon.

However, the injury has put a real spanner in the works as to whether he will now be able to earn himself a permanent stay on Merseyside.

The Friedkins wanted to sign a midfielder in the January window, and they did that with Carlos Alcaraz, but he is not exactly a like-for-like replacement.

But the positive sign for Mangala is that he has clearly left an impression with the players at Goodison Park.
