Everton need to recall Harrison Armstrong from Derby County loan

Minimal business was done at Everton across the board in January, but Harrison Armstrong did leave on loan for Derby County.

Regular first-team football was not quite on offer at Goodison Park with the likes of Ndiaye blocking the youngsters path.

However, a spot has now opened up in the starting XI for a player like Armstrong to have stepped up.

Moyes is likely to start Jack Harrison who has not impressed in the slightest this season as he still searches for his first goal involvement this season.

In the few weeks they had together, Armstrong really impressed Moyes at Finch Farm with the playmaker also holding a good relationship with Leighton Baines.

Since leaving Everton, Armstrong has only played 43 minutes of Championship football across his three appearances.

Thelwell has an opportunity to save the youngster from his early frustrations at Derby, as well as providing Moyes with an exciting option to replace Ndiaye.

What David Moyes said about recalling Armstrong from Derby

Thelwell and Baines were sent to watch Armstrong in action in Everton’s youth system since Moyes returned to Merseyside.

The youngster is a player full of promise having just begun to work his way into the senior side over recent months.

Speaking on Friday, Moyes suggested bringing Armstrong back from Derby is not something he has considered just yet.

“I’ve not discussed it at the moment, that’s for sure,” Moyes replied on a potential recall.

But if Harrison continues to struggle, and Ndiaye’s injury turns out to be worse than first thought, perhaps Armstrong could become a real option for Everton.
