Everton are set for a frantic end to the winter transfer window.

David Moyes wants attackers through the door after injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Dwight McNeil.

That’s left Everton’s forward ranks thread-bare, so it’s understood the club are exploring a number of deals.

It had been claimed that Everton agreed a £10m deal to sign Tom Fellows from West Bromwich Albion, but those reports are believed to be wide of the mark.

However, Everton News understands Tommy Watson is of interest after his promising breakthrough season with Sunderland.

And now, it’s just emerged that there could be a late opportunity to sign him.

Brighton’s deal to sign Everton target Tommy Watson collapses

Everton thought a deal to sign Tommy Watson was off earlier today.

Watson was travelling down to Brighton to complete a deadline day move with a £13m deal mooted, but now Kevin Thelwell has been given a lifeline.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Watson’s proposed switch to the South Coast is off after the two clubs failed to agree a deal.

Sunderland were keen to sign a Brighton player on loan in exchange, but that’s failed to transpire after talks with Simon Adingra.

Everton should go all out to sign Watson

Clearly, Watson is happy to leave the Championship promotion hopefuls this month and with Everton on the lookout for a winger, the stars are aligning.

There are a lot of moving parts to the deal, though, as Sunderland won’t allow their academy graduate to leave without a replacement.

It’s understood they had a bid knocked back for Leicester City’s Kasey McAteer earlier today and are returning with a second offer.

So perhaps if that deal is complete, Everton will be well-placed to land Watson, who’s widely regarded as one of the top talents in the second tier.
