David Moyes is keen to bring in a striker before the transfer window slams shut tonight.
Injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja have left Beto as the only fit and available centre-forward.
Everton are set to keep Beto after weeks of speculation linking him with a return to Serie A, but clearly he needs help up top.
The Toffees have looked at Hamza Igamane but Rangers are demanding around £25m for his signature, so FFP restraints won’t allow that deal to transpire.
Everton have also shown an interest in Timothy Weah, but Fulham are providing stiff competition as they keep tabs on his situation.
With that said, if Moyes fails to bring in a striker, he already has a very controversial plan of action.

David Moyes thinks Iliman Ndiaye can play up front
At this stage, it looks unlikely Moyes will be getting his wish for a new striker as Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers isn’t expecting anyone through the door at Goodison Park.
But, if that’s the case, Moyes has a very controversial plan to play Iliman Ndiaye as a striker if indeed Beto needs a rest, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Everton boss believes Ndiaye can operate as a number nine just like Jarrad Bowen did at West Ham United.
Carlos Alcaraz could also become an option up top once his transfer goes through.
Martin Sherif could also provide Beto with competition
The Liverpool Echo also mooted under-21s striker Martin Sherif as an understudy to Beto.
The 18-year-old is yet to make his Everton debut but has been impressing for the reserves and could get his chance off the bench over the next few weeks.
Sherif has represented the Netherlands at youth level and has a great deal of pedigree in the academy space.
So perhaps Moyes could turn to the youngster to share the workload.
