Everton have the potential to pick up one of their previous targets for absolutely nothing now.
After the result on the weekend, Everton fans will be looking upwards with a four-point gap created on the bottom three.
David Moyes was able to get his first win on the board after returning to Merseyside.
But he is still awaiting his first signing with Everton able to spend around £40m this month, as the deadline nears in under two weeks.
The Friedkin Group want to sign a midfielder and forward before the window shuts, but they are experiencing some issues.
However, there may be one opportunity that may have just presented itself to them.

Former Everton target Fode Ballo-Toure released by AC Milan
Moyes and Kevin Thelwell are discussing transfer targets after the Everton chief drew up a list of potential options.
But there is one player who could well appear back on Everton’s radar after recent developments.
According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have just terminated the contract of left-back Fode Ballo-Toure.
‘AC Milan have terminated Fodé Ballo-Toure’s contract with immediate effect,’ he said on X.
‘He’s now available as free agent.’
According to Foot Mercato, in 2023, Everton were one of the sides who showed a real interest in Ballo-Toure before making the move to Fulham on loan.
Everton are eyeing a move for Ben Chilwell this month, but they will experience some issues given their loan situation.
This does, however, suggest the Blues are in the market for a new left-back.

Fode Ballo-Toure struggled with Fulham
In the summer when Everton were interested, Ballo-Toure ended up making the move to Fulham on loan.
But it was a real struggle for the 28-year-old.
| Ballo-Toure @ Fulham | Total |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 8 |
| Minutes | 224 |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 0 |
Considering Thelwell is being backed by the Friedkins, it will be interesting to see whether they could revisit a move for the Senegalese defender.
It has not been an easy season for Ballo-Toure, but Vitaliy Mykolenko is now impressing at left-back, so he could well come in as a backup for the Ukraine international.
