Everton have now seen three weeks pass in the January transfer window already without a single player arriving.
There have, however, been some considerable changes made at Everton away from the pitch recently.
With a new manager now in the dugout, David Moyes is looking for January signings as he eyes improvements to his squad.
Moyes was able to guide Everton to a big win over Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend, but that has to act as a catalyst for change.
With goals coming at ease for the Toffees over the weekend, there may well now be a focus on adding some defensive reinforcements.
And there has been one Premier League defender who has been identified as a transfer target.

Everton eyeing move for Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell
There has been some frustrating news recently with Everton now unlikely to sign Ernest Nuamah from Lyon this month.
But the Toffees do not have time to dwell on any potential transfer blips.
According to The Athletic, Everton have identified Chelsea left-back as an opportunity for the final weeks of the window.
A loan is not possible, though, with the Blues currently at their limit of loan signings for the season.
Everton have explored terminating Armando Broja’s loan, but Chelsea would demand the full loan payment if the striker was to be returned.
That means any move for Chilwell would likely have to be on a permanent basis.
Moyes is keen to sign another full-back this month, with options at left-back extremely limited to just Mykolenko.
What Pep Guardiola said about Ben Chilwell
There is no doubting Chilwell is a player whose injury history will provide many with a real concern ahead of any potential transfer.
A loan deal is unlikely to make any sense for Everton anyway as he has played just 45 minutes all season for Chelsea.
If Everton were to land the 28-year-old, he would likely need to be integrated into the squad slowly to avoid any injury setbacks.
But he is a player of real talent, with Pep Guardiola having previously praised the defender in a provate conversation.
‘He told me that he thought I was a really talented player,’ Chilwell told the Daily Mail.
‘And that he wanted me to keep playing well, getting up and down the pitch.’
