Everton have now secured their second signing of the summer with Thierno Barry.

It has taken some time, but David Moyes is now about to get his hands on his new number nine in plenty of time before the trip to the United States.

A lot of work is needed at Everton over the coming weeks, but the addition of Barry marks a strong start to July.

Barry issued a transfer message ahead of his move to Merseyside being officially announced.

With the player thanking his former side Villarreal, Everton have since provided official confirmation of the transfer.

And there has been a number of players from other clubs to share their congratulations to the France U21 international.

Mathys Tel reacts to Thierno Barry’s Everton transfer message

Barry has been on Merseyside to complete his Everton medical, after jetting in earlier this week for his summer break in Miami.

The striker has been at the heart of Everton’s transfer plans this summer and it seems he has jumped the gun slightly in confirming his transfer.

Taking to Instagram, Barry thanked Villarreal and their ‘crazy’ fans for the time he had spent playing in La Liga.

Responding to his post of appreciation were some familiar names to fans of the Premier League.

Ironically, Everton have shown interest in Nicolas Pepe ahead of this summer’s transfer window as wide options are high on the agenda.

With Barry now in the bag, the Toffees will be looking to provide the striker with some attacking quality to support him.

Everton need to find a new winger to benefit Barry

Everton are prioritising attacking signings this summer following years of struggles in front of goal.

The Toffees have experienced plenty of optimism from the signing of Iliman Ndiaye last summer, with the Senegal international showcasing his ability on the left.

It is clear Everton need to replicate that on the other flank.

Moyes has wanted to sign a new winger since he made the move back to Merseyside in January, that desire remains in July.

Securing a deal for Barry will provide Everton fans with a lot of excitement for the upcoming season, but there are still a lot of pieces which need to be added around him to maximise his talent.
