Everton find themselves in a considerably better position than they did just a few months ago.

David Moyes has silenced any critics who may have doubted his return to Merseyside following Sean Dyche’s sacking.

Club legend Neville Southall doesn’t think Moyes is the long-term answer for Everton, but believes he is a good option for the short term.

Results may suggest otherwise as Everton are performing better than a lot of Premier League sides since Moyes was appointed.

The Toffees have pulled away from the relegation zone and are now climbing up the Premier League table.

It is a far cry from the Everton of recent years and Southall has now just shared what he had heard about Frank Lampard’s time on Merseyside.

Neville Southall shares shocking Frank Lampard claim at Everton

Simon Jordan slammed Lampard’s time at Everton, suggesting the Chelsea legend would have taken the side down if he wasn’t sacked.

But it seems Farhad Moshiri got off lightly when it came to sacking the former Everton boss.

Speaking on The Football’s On podcast, Southall has shared details he knows about Lampard’s time at Goodison, which will shock some fans.

“You have to pay a fortune to get rid of people. And the one thing which Graeme Sharp did when he was there was they were going to give Frank Lampard a five-year deal. And he [Sharp] said: ‘Why are you doing that? You sack everyone after 18 months’,” said Southall.

“They gave him a two-and-a-half-year deal and at least they saved another two-and-a-half-year’s worth of money. So he did that, to be fair to him.”

Abdoulaye Doucoure has also slammed Lampard and even admitted he came close to leaving Everton because of him.

The decision from Sharp ended up saving Everton millions and that would have been yet another blow to the books had they handed Lampard such a long-term deal.

The Friedkins are not making wild contract decisions

Although they’ve only been at the club for a matter of months, it has become apparent the Friedkins are not making the same errors.

Everton are looking to hand Idrissa Gana Gueye a new contract, but the club are being very careful about dishing other deals out.

And the same could be seen in their negotiations for Moyes.

It became apparent Moyes did not want a really short-term deal, but the Friedkins were not looking to hand out a lengthy contract.

Everton are under considerably better management under the Friedkins as they look to take this club forward.
