Everton are going to be up against it this month in their efforts to sign Sunderland captain Dan Neil.
With just under two weeks remaining in the transfer window, David Moyes is yet to see any new faces come through the doors at Goodison Park.
There was a major boost for Everton on the weekend in their victory over Tottenham Hotspur, but one win cannot cloud their judgement of their season so far.
A new midfielder is on their mind as Everton have registered interest in Sunderland captain Neil.
The Black Cats are flying in the Championship and any move for the midfielder would certainly raise eyebrows on Wearside.
Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared Sunderland’s stance on selling Neil this month.

Sunderland do not want to sell Dan Neil to Everton
Sources on Wearside are adamant Sunderland will want to keep their best players at the Stadium of Light for the remainder of the season.
Regis Le Bris landed at Sunderland over the summer and has been nothing short of a revelation with the Black Cats pushing for automatic promotion.
This naturally means Sunderland are keen to keep their top players at the club as they push to return to the Premier League.

Reports have suggested Everton have also shown an interest in Carney Chukwuemeka as they look to beef up their midfield.
And their interest in midfielders may have to be diverted away from Sunderland as they aim to continue their run of form with their captain leading them in the middle.

Dan Neil will prove difficult to move from Sunderland
If there is one Sunderland player who Everton may struggle to prise away this month it is likely to be Neil.
The 23-year-old was born in South Shields and has played through Sunderland’s youth system, making his interest in the club’s promotion push even more important.
Although there is the prospect of playing in the Premier League with Everton he will surely be wanting to take his boyhood club back to the big time.
Everton have roughly £40m to spend in January, but are now coming up against a number of issues in the market.
The final week of the window can often provide some surprises and those on Merseyside will be desperate to see some movement.
