Everton are exploring a deal to sign Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo.
Everton manager David Moyes is prioritising a right-winger this summer transfer window as they’ve been left short in that area.
Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom have both left, so there is a pressing need to sign a wide player before the new 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off next month.
Moyes has identified Takefusa Kubo as a top transfer target, and there is a suggestion that a bid is being readied.
If Takefusa Kubo does join the Merseysiders, it would break a 147-year trend.

Takefusa Kubo could break Everton record
Everton are confident they will sign Kubo this summer after speaking to his representative over the last few days.
The 24-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League, so there are serious legs to this transfer, with Real Sociedad demanding around £34m for his signature.
Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of Kubo having had him at Real Madrid as a youngster, so there is a lot of excitement around the deal.
Interestingly, if the left-footed playmaker does make a switch to the Toffees, he would become the first ever Japanese player in the club’s 147-year history.
Everton’s forward line looks very exciting
If all goes to plan, Everton could line up with a front three of Iliman Ndiaye, Thierno Barry and Kubo in their first Premier League game against Leeds United.
That’s certainly an exciting prospect as the two wide players are incredibly creative, so Barry could get a hatful of chances.
The Toffees are also looking at Bilal El Khannous, who created a whopping 42 chances for Leicester City last term and was evidently well worth more than his three assists.
In a better side, El Khannouss would flourish, so it could shape up to be a phenomenal summer window for Moyes.
