Everton are now edging closer to sealing their replacement for Sean Dyche.

The Friedkin Group sent shockwaves around the league on Thursday night as they made the decision to sack Dyche.

An internal review by the Friedkins is taking place at Everton and it is apparent the new owners were not convinced the 53-year-old was the right man for the job.

Everton find themselves sitting extremely close to the relegation battle at the wrong end of the table.

The search to find their next manager has already begun and a deal appears to be nearing.

David Moyes held talks with Everton over a potential return on Thursday, but there was one major issue which seems to have been resolved.

Everton set to appoint David Moyes on two-year contract

After talks were held on Thursday, Moyes had been offered a short-term deal by Everton until the end of the season.

However, in a fresh update on Friday afternoon, Alan Myers has shared the latest coming out of Finch Farm.

‘Moyes meeting with Everton today, could be concluded over the weekend, contract expected to be around 2 years,’ he said.

Lee Carsley will not join Everton as Moyes’ assistant coach as he is hoping to land his own managerial role.

However, it seems as if Everton may have got their man with Moyes set to make a sensational return back to Goodison Park.

Moyes unwilling to settle for short-term deal

Moyes has more than enough credit in the bank from his career to warrant the demand of a contract seeing him beyond this summer.

And given the nature of Dyche’s sacking, the Friedkins do not have a lot of negotiating power as they seemingly want to secure a deal quickly.

There were other names on the list with Lee Carsley keen on taking the Everton job, but Moyes offers a lot of certainties.

At a time when there are new owners on Merseyside, Moyes is a familiar face who could help guide the Toffees to safety and into their new stadium.
