The three Everton players who could shock fans this season under David Moyes

So far, this campaign has been a success for Everton, but David Moyes will have a headache in selecting players.

It’s proving to be the exciting project laid out by The Friedkin Group, as Everton have made a vibrant start to the season.

Alan Shearer thinks Everton will fight for top eight and Moyes will have the vision of European football in mind.

The squad are pulling in all directions as the new arrivals of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have been welcome additions.

But although summer business has been good, three players have gone under the radar and could be the names that surprise fans throughout the season.

Three Everton players who could really surprise fans this season

Tim Iroegbunam

The Everton boss has added midfield options this window, but it hasn’t stopped Tim Iroegbunam from shining.

After signing for £9 million last summer, the 22-year-old hasn’t really hit the ground running, with limited game time.

However, Iroegbunam impressed fans vs Brighton and could continue to surprise the fanbase in the middle of the park, through his high energy and stalwart-like figure, with excellent interceptions.

Although there is heavy competition, he could be one of the players who shocks a few of the Toffees faithful with his quality.

Michael Keane

Certainly a name not expected on this list from fans, but Michael Keane has been quietly going about his business.

Everton fans slammed Keane at times last season, and some might not have been too convinced by the centre-back signing a new contract.

This wasn’t only the concern of fans, but The Friedkin Group were also sceptical of Keane; however, the 32-year-old is so far proving his worth with one key trait.

Someone needed to step up after Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury, and the defender is proving his doubters wrong and could be one to surprise in Moyes’ plans.

Seamus Coleman

Despite it looking like club legend Seamus Coleman would be taking on a coaching role, he’s back playing football for the Toffees.

Coleman is playing his 17th consecutive Everton season, as the Irishman just can’t seem to leave the club he loves, and fans won’t be complaining one bit.

But the reason why he could shock fans is due to having a bigger role than expected, as after a right-back wasn’t signed in the summer, this leaves an opportunity for the 36-year-old.

His quality will certainly not be judged as Coleman impressed vs Mansfield, playing his first 90 minutes since August 2024.

Injuries have taken their toll on the defender, and if this is to be his last campaign as a player with the club, it could be one to remember.
