Everton want to sign a winger this summer transfer window.

David Moyes has considered a number of options in the Championship, including Femi Azeez and Sorba Thomas.

Everton have also looked at Jarrod Bowen at West Ham United, although there is stiff competition for his signature.

Bowen’s teammate Crysencio Summerville is on the Toffees’ radar too, but a fresh report has put that move in doubt.

Tottenham appear to leapfrog Everton in race to sign Crysencio Summerville

Amid Everton’s interest in Summerville, it emerged that West Ham would consider bids of around £26m to sanction his sale.

Now, it’s being reported that Summerville is valued at £50m, so the Toffees may struggle to reach that figure.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has added further doubt to the Toffees transfer, as he notes that Tottenham have called West Ham over a potential deal.

“Spurs have also called West Ham as Summerville is an option in case Savinho doesn’t move,” Jacobs wrote on X.

Summerville scored in the Netherlands’ first World Cup game against Japan and earned rave reviews around the world.

So, it’s difficult to see Everton standing a chance in this race. They are probably better off looking elsewhere and focusing on doable deals.

It’s important not to waste time so that the squad is in good shape for pre-season, as last summer was a bit of a mess.

Everton should laser in on Bowen, who seems to have fewer suitors, which is very surprising given the number he put up last term.

The West Ham talisman registered a whopping 23 goal involvements across all competitions.
