Tyler Dibling clearly set for more Everton minutes after latest transfer development

Everton have been making plans over the last couple of months, ready for the January transfer window.

David Moyes is eyeing a move to sign Artem Dovbyk from AS Roma, with a striker very much a priority for Everton.

Richarlison has also been tipped to return to Merseyside, although that deal would likely be a loan, rather than a permanent transfer.

There could also be movement out of the door, too, with out-of-favour frontman Beto mooted to join Roma.

Another fresh transfer development has emerged this week and reveals a lot about Moyes’ plan for Tyler Dibling.

Everton clearly plan to give Tyler Dibling more opportunities in 2026

It has just emerged that Everton are willing to sanction the sale of Dwight McNeil next month, with Nottingham Forest keen to sign him.

Sean Dyche wants to reunite with McNeil, and Moyes will allow him to depart as soon as Iliman Ndiaye is back from AFCON.

That suggests the Toffees manager is planning to hand Dibling a lot more opportunities in the second half of the season.

The teenager will become Ndiaye’s immediate backup and will be used a lot more as a super sub, rather than McNeil taking his minutes.

Moyes has consistently said it will take Dibling time to get up to speed, but he has never doubted his potential.

“We like Tyler a lot, but he’s another one we’ll bring on in time,” the Scotsman said earlier this season.

“My first time here I had lots of players I brought in. We took a bit of time with them, we didn’t rush them. We’ll just have to accept we’ll bring Tyler on when we’re ready.”

Tyler Dibling needs a run of games like Thierno Barry

Earlier this season, there was a point where Thierno Barry was just constantly in and out of the team, and it was so hard for him to get into any sort of rhythm.

Moyes noticed that and has since decided to give Barry a run of eight consecutive starts, which has helped him to improve, even if he hasn’t been scoring regularly.

How would you describe David Moyes’ handling of Tyler Dibling so far? 😕

The Scotsman must do the same with Dibling, especially whilst Ndiaye is away, as the former Southampton winger has shown that with trust, he can be a really top player at this level.

Everton fans criticised Dibling’s performance against Arsenal at the weekend, but in fairness, he only had 15 minutes to try and make an impact.

He needs at least five starts in a row to show what he’s about, and that must start this weekend, as the Toffees take on relegation favourites Burnley at Turf Moor.
