It surely can’t get any better for Everton fans after James Tarkowski’s late Merseyside Derby equaliser against Liverpool, but you’d be wrong.

In one of the Premier League games of the season, Goodison Park’s final Merseyside derby bowed out in emphatic fashion.

Tarkowski grabbed a 98th-minute equaliser which sent Evertonians into uproar with Liverpool astonished by the 2-2 scoreline.

A mental ending saw Abdoulaye Doucoure sent off for winding up Liverpool fans in a game that will no doubt go down in history.

What makes it sweeter for Everton is what their bitter rivals were signing whilst in front after Mohamed Salah’s supposed winner.

What Liverpool fans were chanting right before the Everton goal

Arne Slot gestured frustration at Everton fans as the Dutchman had a night to forget, getting sent off along with Doucoure after the full-time whistle.

Curtis Jones also received his marching orders after the altercation with Doucoure, as the travelling Liverpool supporters showed plenty of anger.

It makes for an interesting comparison just 10 minutes before.

Reporters overheard a chant from the away end, as the fans belted: ‘We won the league at Goodison Park.’

After Everton’s famous chant last season of ‘You lost the league at Goodison Park’ it would’ve been a bitter pill for Evertonians to swallow, but things worked out all okay in the end.
