Everton signing Tyler Dibling puts him as the second most expensive deal in the club’s history, but in world football, he’s with some big names.

There is plenty of excitement with the Toffees’ transfer of the 19-year-old, who is looking very promising after his Southampton tenure.

Dibling is eligible for the Mansfield game, so he could make his first appearance in the Royal Blue of Everton on Wednesday.

David Moyes will of course not want to rush him, but the winger is sure to be ready to get stuck in.

It’s certainly an extraordinary figure for a teenager, but Dibling has emerged on a list with plenty of good company.

Tyler Dibling’s £40m Everton move makes him the seventh most expensive teenager of all-time

Southampton played hardball with the deal, but in the end, the fee looks to represent strong business from The Friedkin Group.

It’s certainly a transfer that has caught the eye of the Premier League, as Dibling could be the next Paul Gascoigne.

But to add to what is already a lot of pressure on the youngster, Dibling shares a list with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, becoming the seventh most expensive teenager of all time.

Kylian Mbappe£154 million
Joao Felix£108 million
Matthijs De Ligt£72 million
Romeo Lavia£53 million
Leny Yoro£52 million
Anthony Martial£51 million
Tyler Dibling£40 million
Vinicius Junior£38 million

To have a higher fee than Vinicius Junior shows that the 19-year-old could be destined for the top.

The Toffees have a platform to give to the winger, but they can’t make mistakes like the past.

Everton don’t want another Moise Kean repeat with Tyler Dibling

Previously, the Blues have had situations where teenagers have been signed for fees that could add to the pressure of the Everton shirt.

Moise Kean is the perfect example, as the young Italian joined the Toffees for £27 million in 2019 when he was the same age as Dibling at 19, and Evertonians will recall a disappointing first campaign.

The risk they now need to avoid with the former Southampton star is repeating these mistakes, and Moyes will be the perfect man manager to make sure he plays his own game and enjoys his football.

Kean has no regrets from his Everton spell, but Dibling won’t want to get to that point and has the opportunity to thrive on the Blue side of Merseyside.
