December 19th marks the first anniversary since The Friedkin Group completed their takeover at Everton.

So much has changed in the space of 365 days as Everton have finally returned to being a club that have big ambitions for the future.

David Moyes has helped stabilise the Blues after being appointed just weeks into The Friedkin Group’s reign on Merseyside.

The new owners have had one summer window at the club and Moyes was delighted with Everton’s transfer business.

Nine new signings were brought through the door over the summer and plenty of players departed at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

A full year on from the Friedkins receiving the keys to Everton Football Club, Everton.News has taken a look back where the final starting XI of Farhad Moshiri’s reign.

The final game before Moshiri handed the club over to the Friedkins came against Arsenal, where the Toffees secured a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Jordan Pickford

Not much needs to be said here. Jordan Pickford remains Everton and England’s number one and has inked a new contract in recent months.

Which player(s) should TFG have kept at the club looking back one year on from the takeover? 🤔

Ashley Young

Ashley Young left Everton at the end of his contract over the summer and has since joined Championship side Ipswich Town.

Some Ipswich fans have not been impressed with Young this season, who has only played 380 minutes in the Championship.

With the full-back issues on Merseyside, there may well be a feeling from some that perhaps Young should have stuck around.

James Tarkowski

Remains part of the furniture in the Everton defence. Roy Keane has even predicted James Tarkowski to score against Arsenal at the weekend.

Jarrad Branthwaite

Jarrad Branthwaite is still recovering from his surgery. Since signing a new deal over the summer, the Everton defender is yet to play a single minute of competitive football.

Vitaliy Mykolenko

The Ukraine international remains on Merseyside and Everton News understands that Everton are trying to tie him down to a new contract.

Idrissa Gana Gueye

One of the final players from this starting XI to remain at the club, but Everton have lost Idrissa Gana Gueye to AFCON over recent days.

With the current midfield injury list, the Senegal international is going to be a huge miss.

Orel Mangala

Just weeks after the takeover last December, Orel Mangala’s Everton career came to a close after he suffered a serious knee injury.

The Belgian midfielder ended up returning to Lyon and only recently has Mangala made a return to football following his lengthy rehabilitation process.

Jack Harrison

A decision was made over the summer not to sign Jack Harrison permanently. The winger remains at Leeds United, but his minutes have been few and far between.

Harrison enjoyed Leeds’ win over Everton in the opening game of the season. However, he may be hoping for a move away in January having only made one start in the league.

Abdoulaye Doucoure

Perhaps one of the more vocal players surrounding his future on Merseyside over the summer. Abdoulaye Doucoure did eventually end up leaving Everton following considerable speculation over contract talks.

Doucoure landed a ‘lucrative’ move to Saudi Arabia with NEOM SC, but he has since spoken about his desire over the summer to remain at Everton.

Why do you think Dan Friedkin still has not shown his face at Everton? 🤨

Since receiving the keys to Everton, Dan Friedkin has not visited his £400m purchase.

Iliman Ndiaye

Does anything really need to be said? Iliman Ndiaye is going to be another huge miss for Moyes through AFCON over the coming weeks.

Everton fans will just be hoping they are able to keep hold of the Senegal international over the coming months.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Finally, Dominic Calvert-Lewin decided to move on over the summer as a free agent, where he joined Leeds United.

Jamie Carragher thinks Everton should have kept Calvert-Lewin, with the striker hitting some form of late at Elland Road.

Having scored five goals in the league this season, the 28-year-old has found the back of the net in each of his last four games.
