£25m Everton star leaves Alan Stubbs stunned as he confesses he made a mistake

Many Evertonians will probably be going back on what they’ve said negatively about Everton stars after the remarkable upturn in form.

It was a toxic time towards the end of Sean Dyche’s tenure, but David Moyes has brought a sense of fresh air back to the club.

Moyes has turned Jake O’Brien into a ‘monster’ as the defender struggled under Dyche.

It became apparent that Dyche was ready to offload O’Brien which would’ve certainly cost the Toffees in the long run.

The Irishman isn’t the only player who has had a dramatic turnaround though, as former Everton defender Alan Stubbs is shocked by one player’s turn in form.

Beto has left Alan Stubbs stunned after Everton form

Since arriving to Merseyside in 2023 for £25m, Beto has struggled at Everton, to say the least.

Like O’Brien, Dyche didn’t want Beto, and the timing of everything has worked superbly for the striker.

He’s finally found the form he’s been looking for as Beto praised Moyes for boosting his confidence, which he certainly has after four goals in his last three Premier League games.

Someone who didn’t believe Beto would succeed at Everton is Stubbs, as he admitted on the A View From The Bullens podcast, he made a mistake.

“I am certainly going to admit, Beto has surprised me,” Stubbs said.

“I’ll hold my hands up, his impact, his goals, his all round play has been fantastic.

“We’ve now got a team that play to his strengths and we’re seeing a striker playing with confidence.”

Moyes’ decision to keep Beto is season-defining for Everton

You certainly wouldn’t have associated Beto and season-defining together a few months ago, but now it can be said.

The Friedkin Group wanted to sell Beto, and that was clear from Dyche’s side as beforementioned, but what Moyes has done is incredible.

Of course, what the Everton boss has done in itself is incredible, but Moyes wanted to keep Beto and that has proved vital.

Obviously, the main point is his form, but Moyes would’ve been without a striker after January had Beto been let go, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury certainly threw a spanner in the works.

14 goals in five Premier League games is astonishing from where Everton were, and had Beto left, the Toffees would still find themselves in a whole heap of trouble.
