The transfer deadline is just hours away, and Everton are in the process of wrapping up a last-minute deal.

Tyrique George is set to join Everton from Chelsea, with the 19-year-old due to sign an initial loan which includes an option-to-buy clause.

The Toffees have also been looking at signing a striker all winter, with David Moyes keen to provide Thierno Barry with more competition.

That said, one of the number nine’s Everton were looking at is now on the verge of terminating his contract.

Everton want Jhon Duran… would he be an upgrade on Thierno Barry? 👀

Everton target Jhon Duran set to terminate his contract at Fenerbahce

Last week, it emerged that Everton were exploring a deal to sign Jhon Duran, which excited many supporters.

However, Lille then advanced in talks to sign Duran, but the French club are now reportedly out of the race.

Now, Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has just reported that the Fenerbahce striker is about to terminate his contract.

“Jhon Duran, who is preparing to terminate his contract with Fenerbahçe, has been removed from the match squad,” Sabuncuoglu wrote on X.

If you could sign one player, who would it be Everton fans? 🤩

That means Duran is due back at his parent club Al-Nassr, who could sanction a late-minute exit on deadline day.

Whether Everton decide to revisit the deal remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one to watch in the final hours of the window.

Jhon Duran would be a statement signing

If Everton were to pull off an eleventh-hour deal to sign Duran, that would certainly be a statement transfer.

Duran, who left Aston Villa in a £64m deal last year, is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe.

How would you feel about selling Tim Iroegbunam on deadline day for £15m? 💰

The only downside with the signing would be how it’d impact Thierno Barry, who has come into form over the last month or so.

Duran wouldn’t join to be a backup, so Barry’s minutes would more than likely suffer for the remainder of the season.

That’ll be a consideration for Moyes and his recruitment chiefs.
