Everton have been able to really turn around their 2024/25 campaign since the appointment of David Moyes.

In his opening six Premier League games, Moyes has been able to secure four wins and one draw, whilst suffering his only defeat in his opening game against Aston Villa.

The managerial change has demonstrated to The Friedkin Group that change does work with Moyes making a mockery of Sean Dyche’s time at Everton.

There remains a lot of uncertainties remaining on Merseyside ahead of the summer transfer window.

Everton are going to have a number of players out of contract in a matter of months, but director of football Kevin Thelwell will also find himself in the same boat.

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared the latest on the Toffees’ director of football conundrum.

Everton informed of David Weir’s decision to remain at Brighton

Ahead of the summer, Everton have reportedly looked into hiring David Weir from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sources understand that Weir is not looking to leave Brighton – he is very happy in his role on the South Coast.

Everton are assessing their options when it comes to the director of football role – The Friedkin Group have not yet decided whether to replace Thelwell or not, but they are looking at other options.

Thelwell was delighted with the signing of Carlos Alcaraz on an initial loan in the January window.

Whether he is Thelwell’s final Everton signing remains to be seen, but one man who will not be taking the role is the Brighton chief.

Former Everton man Weir is held in huge regard across football for the role he has played in Brighton’s success – but as it stands he is not ready to walk away.

Kevin Thelwell expecting busy summer at Everton

Following the January transfer window, Thelwell has admitted he expects a big summer transfer window at Everton.

The Toffees are expecting to find themselves in a much healthier place in terms of PSR.

Everton are planning on Thelwell making changes to the academy, which could well suggest the Friedkins are not totally sold on moving on from Thelwell.

However, they have already shown they are not afraid of making big changes on Merseyside and the summer is going to see some big decisions needing to be made.
