Everton manager David Moyes was treated to one final meeting between Everton and Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The final Merseyside Derby to ever be held at Goodison Park was supposed to be played back in December, before being postponed due to Storm Darragh.

There was a storm of emotion inside the historic Everton stadium on the night with the fans playing their part.

Arne Slot was left furious with some Everton fans during the game as he felt they bought their side some fouls off Michael Oliver.

But it was something Moyes was spotted doing before the game even kicked off which caught the attention of Rio Ferdinand.

Everton manager David Moyes spotted using Jurgen Klopp trait

Moyes already spoke about Liverpool’s weaknesses in the past and it was apparent he was keeping his eye firmly on the visitors.

During the pre-match warm-ups, Moyes was spotted staring at the Liverpool players warming up in the other half of the pitch.

Speaking on TNT Sports’ coverage of the game, Rio Ferdinand likened Moyes’ tactic to that of former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

“I love the way that managers stare at the opponents. Klopp used to do that, and now Moyes is going: ‘I’m going to give it to these boys, here. I like it,” said Ferdinand.

The Everton boss could be seen in the background closely watching the Liverpool players during their pre-match warm-up drills.

Despite sealing a well-deserved point in the end, Moyes ruthlessly criticised Abdoulaye Doucoure for getting himself sent off in the aftermath.

With many doubting what would actually change after sacking Dyche, the 61-year-old is already proving a lot of people wrong.

David Moyes delighted with Merseyside Derby draw

Coming into the game Liverpool manager Arne Slot had praised Moyes for the work he had done before returning to Merseyside.

However, the 61-year-old and his side were able to frustrate the Dutch manager who was sent off after the full-time whistle.

The Blues have shown some real resilience under Moyes and have made Goodison back into a fortress in the Premier League.

And it was apparent Moyes was delighted to see his men fight back despite seeing their lead initially slip.

“When they scored I thought ‘oh, well this is just going to be one of those days’. We’re just a little bit short of when the moment comes in the final third to have the quality to finish at times,” he said after the game.

“It started to look as if it was difficult, but we got an incredibly good goal at the end. It was a great point which keeps our position in the Premier League a little stronger.”
