New Everton signings this transfer window will take inspiration from the club’s history and the exciting project ahead.
David Moyes and The Friedkin Group have got a big month ahead of them with many arrivals still expected.
After Adam Aznou became the Toffees’ fourth addition of the summer, the Scotsman won’t be stopping there.
Eight more players are wanted at Everton, and it’s going to be a significant task for the owners to make it happen.
The technique of inspiration from former Everton players could be used to attract new signings, however, as one player has admitted that he signed because of Romelu Lukaku.

Beto claims that Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto’o inspired Everton move
With Thierno Barry’s arrival, one area that doesn’t need to be touched by The Friedkins is the striker position.
This is because both the Frenchman and Beto will be competing for the number nine role next season.
The 27-year-old has had a resurgence under Moyes, and Beto likely starts for Everton as normal despite Barry’s arrival, with the 22-year-old instead looking like the long-term option.
Fans would love to see shades of Lukaku from either striker, but it’s the Guinea-Bissau international who might emulate the 32-year-old more after admitting the Belgian made him want the move to Merseyside.
Speaking to The Athletic, Beto made it very clear that the former Everton frontman played a major role in his £26 million switch from Udinese in 2023, along with a certain Samuel Eto’o.
“Even in Italy, I never thought that I would go to England. But then Everton came! Everton of Lukaku!” Beto said.
“My mind was saying Lukaku played there, Eto’o played there. So if I could play in Everton, it would be a dream. I think I’m blessed.”
Judging by his idolisation, there were certainly signs of Lukaku from the six-foot-four forward who proved to be a menace at times for the Toffees last campaign.
Now with Barry in the frame, Moyes will be expecting Beto to step up, as the competition will be close this season.

Thierno Barry set to provide significant competition to Beto at Everton
It’s clear that Moyes’ main man from last season has a special connection to the club; as mentioned before, Eto’o means as much to Beto as Lukaku.
He wants to write his name into the Blues’ history books, but his task has gotten much harder with Everton’s new striker signing.
Barry is set to cause a nuisance in the Premier League, as he prides himself on his work rate.
Everton fans also noticed Barry’s excellent aerial ability, and looking at how the two compare from last season, Beto has got his work cut out for him.
| Statistics | Beto | Thierno Barry |
| Games played | 30 | 35 |
| Goals | 8 | 11 |
| Shots on target per 90 | 1.35 | 0.97 |
| Aerial duels won % | 48.5% | 66.7% |
| Aerial duels won per 90 | 5.83 | 3.95 |
It’s set to be a gruelling battle, which is good news for Moyes as he could have two quality strikers to rely upon.
Beto’s inspiration from Lukaku needs to come in clutch, as this new kid on the block won’t be messing about.
