David Moyes is facing serious backlash from sections of the Everton fanbase following Sunday’s loss against Sunderland.
After a solid start to life back on Merseyside, Moyes appears to have reverted back to type, with some of his decisions costing Everton a shot at Europe.
Many may feel this Everton side is not strong enough for Europe, but the 63-year-old’s reluctance to use his full squad had played into that, with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye left looking physically drained.
What would you say to Angus Kinnear after THAT loss to Sunderland? 😤
Something has to change… 😭
Europe was there for the taking this season, with some of Moyes’ decisions surely leaving The Friedkin Group considering his position.
Everton News has taken a look at four of Moyes’ worst decisions this season.

Merlin Rohl not utilised by David Moyes at Everton
Moyes has admitted he’s still looking for Rohl’s best position after the German’s recent performances out at right-wing.
Rohl has almost been at the club for 12 months and the manager is still unsure how best to use him.
Do not forget that Rohl put in a brilliant performance against Aston Villa back in January as a central midfielder, but Moyes then didn’t play him again until March.
Moyes outers… is there anything he can do to change your mind? 🤔
This is just the first example of how Moyes has struggled to manage his squad.
Tyler Dibling left to watch from the bench after summer saga
Everton spent big money on Tyler Dibling in the summer to bring him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium from Southampton.
The Toffees made a big splash to bring in one of England’s hottest talents, yet made the youngster watch from the bench,
This has had two major effects on Everton: Dibling’s lack of development and Ndiaye’s drop-off in form.
Dibling is said to be settling in on Merseyside now, but his lack of football under Moyes has cost him a full 12 months in his development.
The 20-year-old has only played 350 minutes in the Premier League this season. That simply is not acceptable from the manager.
Dibling is not the only promising, young winger who is being neglected by Moyes.
Tyrique George’s loan move has proven a complete waste
Just like Dibling, Tyrique George has struggled to play any football under Moyes since making the loan move from Chelsea in the winter.
George impressed against Crystal Palace and then again at the weekend against Sunderland.
How do you feel about Moyes’ treatment of Tyrique George? 🫣
Instead of utilising George, Moyes has insisted on playing Dwight McNeil for large parts of the year.
Just remember that McNeil was a player who Moyes gave the green light for Everton to sell to Crystal Palace in January.
Yet the 63-year-old still chose McNeil ahead of George, who has started just one Premier League game for the Toffees.
Harrison Armstrong recall now looks like a huge mistake
Harrison Armstrong was recalled in January from his loan stint at Preston North End, but his return to Merseyside has failed to get off the ground.
Many will feel Moyes is the reason behind the youngster’s struggles since his return.
Moyes publicly slammed Armstrong during a press conference in April, which seemed incredibly unfair given some of Everton’s actual underperformers who have gone without criticism.
Since February, Armstrong has played five minutes of football across two Premier League appearances.
Even when Armstrong was getting minutes under Moyes, the 63-year-old was playing him out of position out on the wing.
Adam Aznou transfer baffles
Why did Everton pursue Adam Aznou?
The 19-year-old left-back has not played a single minute of Premier League football ever since he made the move last summer from Bayern Munich.
Aznou was recently spotted in Barcelona watching El Classico with his friend Lamine Yamal.
Since the end of January, Aznou has only made the matchday squad once, which saw him watch from the bench at the Emirates Stadium.
Even when Aznou impressed in the FA Cup against Sunderland, Moyes failed to reward him with an opportunity in the Premier League.
This, therefore, has led to an over-reliance on Vitalii Mykolenko, who is by no means a top left-back.
The common theme across all of these examples is Moyes’ failure to utilise his exciting youngsters, which has led to a failure in managing his top players like Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
