Friedkin waiting on ‘green light’ that could spark double Everton transfer ploy

The Friedkin Group are going to have to balance the January transfer window across both Everton and Roma for only the second time.

Not a lot was done last January at Everton in the market as The Friedkin Group had only just got their feet under the table on Merseyside.

This time around and the fans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be expecting to see some movement in the market.

David Moyes has worked well with the squad he has, but injuries, suspensions and international duty have decimated the 62-year-old’s side.

After the draw against Wolves, Moyes pleaded for more signings at Everton, with the Blues allowing some extremely winnable fixtures to pass them by.

On the back of news elsewhere, there could be some positive developments potentially set to unfold on Merseyside.

Friedkin green light at Roma could be positive news for Everton

With a new striker on the radar for the Toffees, Everton have shown an interest in Evan Ferguson, who is currently on loan at Roma.

The Ireland international has enjoyed an improved run of form over recent weeks after what was a shaky start away from Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Friedkins are now waiting on the green light from Giacomo Raspadori after negotiations with the Atletico Madrid forward.

The Italian journalist claims Roma are hopeful of potentially getting the deal wrapped up by the end of the week.

Where this becomes interesting for Everton is the domino the possible signing of Raspadori could start involving the Blues.

Everton also have an interest in Artem Dovbyk of Roma, as Gian Piero Gasperini considers fresh striker options for the remainder of the term.

With money set to be spent in Rome, the Friedkins may well be able to pull off a deal to see one of Everton’s striker targets make the move to Merseyside.

Evan Ferguson would be a gamble that could pay off for Everton

Naturally, there would be a lot of reservations surrounding Ferguson if Everton do make an official move for the on-loan striker.

Roma were believed to be open to returning him to Brighton, but his recent form may have made that less of a foregone conclusion.

Where does Evan Ferguson now rank in your striker wish list after seeing THESE numbers? 🤩

Ferguson scored earlier in the week against Lecce and he was even handed the Man of the Match award for the Serie A clash.

In the striker’s last six games for Roma across all competitions, he has scored four goals, including a brace against Celtic.

The concern may now come in whether he could translate that form straight away to the Premier League if he was to return, or whether he would need time to settle in like he did at Roma.

It must be remembered that he is still just 21 years old, and not all development is linear in football.
