Simon Jordan thinks Sean Dyche is about to save Everton from £50m mistake

Everton are in desperate need of making some January additions, but they cannot be dragged into any further transfer mistakes.

Expectations are growing on Merseyside but David Moyes quite simply does not have the quality he requires to take the Blues to Europe this season.

Some fans may have already grown tired of hearing the word Europe, but the reality is a poor Premier League season has kept the door slightly ajar for Everton.

Moyes has admitted he needs more at Everton as he currently endures a number of injury, suspension and international duty absences.

A new striker is on the radar for Everton this month following an underwhelming start to the season from Thierno Barry and Beto.

The Blues are desperate for goals, but Simon Jordan has warned Everton to allow Sean Dyche to make the mistake of signing a joint January transfer target.

Everton warned to avoid Jorgen Strand Larsen mistake

As the search for goals goes on, Everton have considered a move for Jorgen Strand Larsen amid his current struggles with Wolves.

The Norwegian striker is believed to have a number of suitors in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest now suggested as a possible landing spot.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan has slammed the former Everton manager, Dyche, for potentially spending considerable money on the struggling striker.

“Pay £50m for that rubbish? Good luck,” said Jordan after hearing of Forest’s interest.

“He’s poor. Look at him the other day, he couldn’t even take a penalty when they needed him to step up. I think he’s a poor player. At £50m/£60m, Wolves should send him round in a cab, gift-wrapped.”

Everton had three strikers under consideration earlier this month, with Ivan Toney and Artem Dovbyk also of interest to the Toffees.

Having spent considerable money on Barry over the summer, Everton will be keen to avoid another striker misfire in the market.

Clearly, Jordan does not think a player like Strand Larsen would improve many sides across the Premier League.

Everton cannot afford another failed striker signing

It is certainly an issue which spans well before The Friedkin Group took over on Merseyside, but Everton’s striker signings of late have been poor.

That is probably putting it lightly, as Everton have not seen a prolific striker at the club since the days of Romelu Lukaku.

Ironically, Barry is studying Lukaku to help improve his game, but the 23-year-old still looks a million miles off the final product.

With almost £60m invested in Beto and Barry, Everton fans will have no more patience left when it comes to the club making poor choices in signing new strikers.

Strand Larsen has not impressed at all this season and has found the back of the net just once.

His form last season (14 goals) was considerably better, but this is a risk that Everton simply cannot afford to make.
