Everton’s marquee signing has now landed on Merseyside, with Jack Grealish becoming the latest addition.

David Moyes has a new attacking threat at his disposal now, and Grealish will be available to play at Elland Road on Monday evening.

Everton have been keen to add some attacking players to their squad this summer, with Moyes demanding nine signings.

The Toffees were not without competition to land Grealish on a season-long loan.

Tottenham Hotspur showed interest in Grealish on the back of James Maddison’s injury in their pre-season tour of South Korea.

But interest shown by Celtic has now been reported on following Grealish’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton’s Jack Grealish quickly snubbed Celtic interest

Grealish was delighted to land at Everton, with the 29-year-old sharing his admiration for Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne.

“There were other numbers but my two favourite English players ever are Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne and I know they both wore number 18 here,” said the 29-year-old.

Ahead of the move, Grealish even spoke to Rooney about joining his former club for the 2025/26 campaign.

According to The Athletic, Grealish had plenty of options on the table, but he snubbed the opportunity to play at Celtic.

Grealish rejected Fenerbahce’s interest, with a move to a lesser league not appealing to the forward in such an important year for him.

Everton feels like the perfect opportunity for Grealish to find his feet again following some really difficult years at Manchester City.

The chance to remain in the Premier League will have been so important for Grealish, who will be wanting to catch Thomas Tuchel’s attention this season.

Grealish needs the limelight of the Premier League

A player of Grealish’s quality needs to be playing under the spotlight of the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce expects Grealish to flourish at Everton under Moyes, and that will be needed if he is to return to the England squad.

It has been a while since Grealish was playing regular football, but he will receive the love needed from the 62-year-old Everton boss to build up his confidence again.

Rio Ferdinand urged Grealish to move to Saudi Arabia in a move that would have certainly put a strain on his hopes of playing for England again.

Had he made the move to Celtic, there would have been real caveats put on any success he had due to the drop in quality from the Premier League.
