Everton’s search for new players is centred around their lack of striker options.

The Toffees have endured some real struggles in attack this season with a lack of form being combined with injury issues.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set for weeks out after picking up a hamstring injury on the weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion.

But even before Calvert-Lewin’s issues, there have been major issues for Everton who are one of the Premier League’s lowest-scoring sides.

David Moyes wants to sign a new striker at Everton, but it is proving a difficult market for the Toffees.

Everton are running out of time as they head into the weekend with just one fit senior striker.

Everton not convinced by striker targets

Evan Ferguson is a striker of interest to Everton this month, but he is a player in high demand.

It has been suggested Chelsea are leading the race for Ferguson who is also wanted by West Ham United.

Talking about the search for a striker, Alan Myers suggested the pool of players available is not overly convincing to those on Merseyside.

‘I think it’s a very difficult window this one, not much about that would really make a difference, but we need players for sure,’ Myers said on social media.

Everton will not be signing Hamza Igamane from Rangers with the 22-year-old set to remain at Ibrox for the remainder of the campaign.

With Beto the only senior option available for Moyes, it would not be a surprise if the Scotsman was pushing behind-the-scenes for Kevin Thelwell to land him a striker.

David Moyes shares positive Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury update

The search for a striker has been given even more emphasis with Everton eyeing Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi.

But unlike Orel Mangala, Calvert-Lewin is not set to miss the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes admitted the 28-year-old’s hamstring injury is not quite as bad as they first feared in Brighton.

“Dom [Calvert-Lewin] isn’t as bad. He doesn’t need any surgery. He’s been checked so from that point of view, it’s not a good injury but it’s maybe not quite as bad as first feared when we got it,” he said.

“We’re hoping that might not be as long as first expected.”
