Sean Longstaff gives his answer on leaving Newcastle to join Everton

Everton are in the running to potentially sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United before the deadline.

David Moyes has been able to get a tune out of the squad he inherited on Merseyside from Sean Dyche.

Two wins from a possible three Premier League games has taken Everton seven points clear of the relegation zone.

However, injuries have seriously depleted the options Moyes has to select from at Goodison Park.

There is a growing need to sign a new midfielder, with Orel Mangala sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage on the weekend.

And TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Graeme Bailey has now told Everton News whether Longstaff would be keen on a move to Merseyside.

Sean Longstaff would approve Everton move from Newcastle

Everton are eyeing up a move for Longstaff as they require further midfield investment due to the recent injury issues.

And sources on Tyneside have suggested the 27-year-old would be open to a possible move to Goodison before the deadline.

Longstaff is suffering from a lack of regular game time under Eddie Howe at St. James’ Park.

The Toon have seen the midfield trio of Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes really nail down their spots in the starting XI.

Newcastle would sanction Longstaff’s sale for around £12m, with the Magpies also suffering their own PSR woes.

Everton have other midfield targets

It is not just the Newcastle midfielder who is tickling the fancy of Kevin Thelwell and those on Merseyside.

Everton have an interest in Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with Moyes believed to be a huge fan of the former Leicester City midfielder.

He would cost significantly more than Longstaff and would not provide the same defensive cover in Mangala’s absence.

There is another issue for the Blues with Everton’s loan quota full and the most realistic way around that would be a deal with Chelsea to send back Armando Broja.

However, Chelsea do not seem overly keen on taking Broja back from Everton ahead of the summer.
