Everton are in the market to sign a new right-back this summer.
David Moyes has been left pining for new signings over the coming weeks ahead of the 2025/26 campaign kicking off.
Since the moment the 62-year-old landed back on Merseyside, Moyes has wanted to sign a new full-back for Everton.
Nathan Patterson has taken the starting spot at right-back for the opening two friendlies this summer.
However, questions remain unanswered as to whether Jake O’Brien will shift out to right-back ahead of the new season.
O’Brien has impressed Moyes at right-back, but the Ireland international’s natural position is at centre-back.

Jake O’Brien shares new Everton right-back thoughts
Following the appointment of Moyes, O’Brien enjoyed his run in the starting XI after some miserable months under Sean Dyche.
Even Kevin De Bruyne was impressed by O’Brien during Manchester City’s victory over the Blues at Goodison Park.
Speaking to Everton TV, O’Brien has issued some fresh comments on his thoughts about playing out of position at right-back.
“It’s important to be versatile. To not just know one position but to know various positions – and I think I’m still learning,” he said.
“But it’s good to play out there. I’m happy to play in the two positions and if I’m needed there, I’ll be ready.”
Patterson faces a make-or-break season at Everton under Moyes, but it seems as if he will be given an opportunity to prove his worth.
What will be interesting to see is whether Everton are to invest in a new right-back over the coming weeks.
O’Brien may have lifted the lid on Everton’s transfer plans
Clearly, O’Brien is not shutting the door on playing another season at right-back under Moyes.
Amid these comments, Everton have ignited interest in Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich, to rival Vitaliy Mykolenko at left-back.
Given the Ukraine international is Everton’s only senior option at left-back, it would appear the immediate concerns are providing cover on that side of the defence.
Whether Everton will look to sign a new right-back this summer remains to be seen.
Kenny Tete was on Everton’s radar, but after the proposed move fell apart, it seems Everton have shifted their focus to other positions.
