In what has been a summer of change for Everton, the Blues are keen to keep Jordan Pickford around for the coming years.

A number of players have departed Everton as free agents this summer, and numerous areas need addressing in the market.

However, there are certain players whom David Moyes is keen to make the focus of his starting XI on Merseyside.

Jarrad Branthwaite has already been handed a new contract to kickstart what promises to be a pivotal summer in Everton’s history.

The 23-year-old is viewed as the star of Everton’s defence, but equally so is Pickford who has played an even bigger role over recent years.

And sources at Everton News understand talks over a new contract for Pickford are now advancing.

Everton’s contract talks with Jordan Pickford are progressing

New Everton signing Mark Travers has arrived and immediately praised Pickford, as he looks to push the England number one.

The 31-year-old has played a huge role in keeping Everton afloat over recent years and will now be hoping to reap the rewards under the new ownership.

Everton News understands Pickford is more than happy to continue playing his football on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group’s plans for the future excite the Everton goalkeeper and he’s ready to lead the club into the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Perhaps the biggest positive to come from the contract talks is the willingness from Pickford to commit the remainder of his career to the Toffees.

Asmir Begovic believes Pickford is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, having trained day in and day out with the Englishman.

Pickford still has two years on his deal, but securing him now to a new contract will be viewed as an easy win for the Friedkins.

Pickford has returned to Everton pre-season training

Following his delayed summer break due to international duty, Pickford has now reunited with his Everton teammates.

The 31-year-old has not featured for Everton yet this summer in either of the pre-season friendlies, but he certainly will play in the Summer Series.

Pickford will also benefit from a salary increase with this new contract, but it will be a wise investment from TFG considering what he brings to the Everton side.

Clubs across the Premier League are experiencing issues between the sticks, whilst Everton can boast their reliability with Pickford in goal.
