More frustration for David Moyes as Everton could miss out on top target to Nottingham Forest

Everton are exploring a number of deals this summer transfer window.

Rangers striker Hamza Igamane is back on David Moyes’ radar, and Everton have reportedly made contact to sign him.

Moyes wanted Igamane in January but couldn’t meet his £25m valuation. Now, Rangers are willing to sanction his sale for around £25m, so there are legs to this deal.

Douglas Luiz is also on Everton’s shortlist as they look to replace Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure, who have left upon the expiry of their contracts.

There is another transfer development surfacing, however, it’s not what Moyes and his chiefs will want to hear.

Everton falling behind in James McAtee race

Moyes has his eye on James McAtee, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola willing to sanction his sale.

McAtee was left out of City’s Club World Cup squad, but ultimately saw him win the under-21 European Championships instead, so it worked out in the end.

Anyhow, the 22-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements and Moyes has made him his top transfer target.

Unfortunately, according to the Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are now expected to advance their move for McAtee, leaving Everton trailing.

The left-footed playmaker has already visited Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt’s training grounds and is impressed by the Bundesliga duo.

So, for the Toffees it seems like they’ve already lost substantial ground as they continue to stall on a number of deals.

Everton desperate to get it right

It very much seems as though Moyes and his recruitment team are absolutely desperate to get their business spot on this summer.

As such, they’re taking their time with deals to ensure no stone has been left unturned, but that’s coming at their expense, somewhat.

Already, they’ve missed out on Habib Diarra, Richard Rios and Kyle Walker-Peters, to name only a few of their targets.

With the season rapidly approaching and pre-season in full swing, there must now be an urgency to get players through the door at Finch Farm.

It hasn’t been the greatest start to pre-season, with a draw against Accrington Stanley and a defeat against Blackburn Rovers, albeit they’re still building up their fitness.
