It was a weekend of mixed emotions for Everton, with three points coming alongside two injury concerns.

Although putting wins on the board has not been the story of the season for Everton losing players to injury certainly has.

David Moyes is keen to see new signings added on Merseyside before the deadline.

The Toffees have been able to create a seven-point cushion on the bottom three through their win on the weekend.

But injuries picked up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala will have the club worried about the extent of their issues.

Orel Mangala shares cryptic message after injury

Following the victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, Moyes admitted Mangala’s injury is a concern, as well as Calvert-Lewin’s.

The midfielder went down in the latter stages of the game and was forced off as a result.

No official update has come out of the club yet about the true extent of the damage done by the midfielder and Calvert-Lewin.

However, Mangala has now shared a post on Instagram which may suggest he could be set for some significant time on the sidelines.

On Monday, the midfielder shared a post which read: ‘Grow through what you go through’.

Many may interpret this as the Everton midfielder being set for a period out of action which will require a lot of strength away from the pitch.

Micah Richards praised Mangala earlier in the season following his loan move from Lyon.

A season-ending injury may also have a serious effect on his long-term future at Everton ahead of the summer.

Everton have midfield replacements returning

Moyes has seen two significant boosts to his squad of late with James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam returning from injury.

It is Garner who is the more advanced in his return and Moyes admitted ahead of the game on Saturday he’d be willing to use the midfielder if needed.

“In an ideal scenario, you’d give them a couple of under-21 games and some more practice but if we need to use them, we would,” Moyes said on Garner and Iroegbunam.

As a result of the Mangala setback, perhaps Garner’s return to the starting XI is about to be ramped up.

Everton play relegation-threatened Leicester City on the weekend which could prove a great path back into the side for Garner.
