Sean Dyche insists Everton fans have him to thank for two of their best players

Everton return to action for the final time this year with an away trip to face Nottingham Forest and another reunion with their former manager.

Just a matter of weeks ago, Sean Dyche was sent back to the City Ground miserable after Everton emphatically beat his Forest side.

Unfortunately for David Moyes, that was the last time he saw his Everton side take all three points from a game.

Goals have been an issue for the Toffees all season long, but there have been some positives to be taken from certain positions.

Ahead of the game at the City Ground, Dyche has praised Everton’s Seamus Coleman for everything he has done for the club over his years.

However, there are two specific players who Dyche feels as if he deserves a lot of credit for developing on Merseyside.

Sean Dyche wants credit for developing Everton duo

Moyes currently finds himself struggling from some of the same issues which Dyche experienced during his time at the club.

Goals are not flowing for Everton and Moyes has even slammed Thierno Barry as not being good enough at the moment.

Everton have been able to hang their hat on their defensive quality once again and Dyche feels he deserves some of the credit for that.

“Taught them well, them two [Michael Keane and James Tarkowski]. Didn’t I? Taught them well, them two,” said Dyche

“The two centre-halves, not Jordan Pickford, he’s been a fine goalkeeper for all of his career, but them two, they’ve learned some of the old tricks. They go alright them two but hopefully they don’t do alright tomorrow [Tuesday].”

Last time out, Dyche hoped for a warm reception from the Everton fans and he certainly got that at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton have enjoyed some of their recent trips to face Forest and three points on Tuesday would be a huge win to close out the year.

Everton will need to show more attacking quality vs Nottingham Forest

The weekend’s trip to Burnley offered Everton with the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

However, it was another 90 minutes where any attacking quality eluded the Blues.

If you were David Moyes, who are you starting against Nottingham Forest? 🫣

Moyes was fairly impressed with Tyler Dibling, but he will be hoping to add Jack Grealish back in to the squad for the game on Tuesday.

Although the January window opens in a matter of hours, Everton are seeing valuable points pass them by as they stutter in front of goal.

Whether it is Barry or Beto starting, the pair both need a goal to show their worth to Moyes before the window opens for business.
