A huge summer lies ahead at Everton for Harrison Armstrong, with the youngster out to impress.

The 18-year-old midfielder took a huge stride forward last season as he enjoyed a short-term loan with Derby County.

Armstrong received a lot of praise at Derby and even managed to earn a nomination for their Young Player of the Season award.

Returning to Everton this summer, Armstrong has a big point to prove to David Moyes, with a spot in the first team on his radar.

Moyes is open to providing Armstrong with an opportunity to showcase his talent throughout pre-season.

The midfielder started on Tuesday against Accrington Stanley, but Moyes has made it clear there are no guarantees.

Armstrong impressed the Everton fans at the Wham Stadium, and it seems his teammates also enjoyed what they saw from him.

Everton players create new nickname for Harrison Armstrong

Following the game on Tuesday evening, Armstrong made it clear he wants his future at Everton, and he’s doing everything he can to make that happen.

The youngster enjoyed a solid display against the League Two outfit, and his efforts are not going unnoticed by his teammates.

Speaking to the Everton media team, Harry Tyrer shared what those around Finch Farm have recently been calling Armstrong.

“He got called Hollywood a lot in Scotland. So I think probably his flicks, tricks and skills [are his best attribute],” said the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

Ironically, during his time at Pride Park, Derby players nicknamed Armstrong Bruce Wayne following his superhero performances.

Moyes was impressed with Armstrong in training whilst the Toffees were at their pre-season camp up in Scotland.

There is no doubt Armstrong has made a solid start to the summer, but there is still a long way to go before the new season starts.

Armstrong must be braced for a new Everton midfield signing

As good as Armstrong is performing this summer, Everton are looking to sign a new midfielder.

The Blues have been boosted by the decision from Idrissa Gana Gueye to remain at the club for at least another year.

However, there are clear question marks hanging over players like James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam.

Everton are eyeing a deal for Douglas Luiz from Juventus, which would have a big impact on Armstrong’s spot in the side.

If the 18-year-old can see pre-season out in style, there could be an argument that he could work his way up the pecking order ahead of someone like Iroegbunam.
