Everton have now welcomed back some of their players for the first day of this summer’s pre-season programme.
The World Cup may still be going on over in the United States, but David Moyes is already bringing his squad back together to prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.
A lot of work is going to be needed on Merseyside if Everton are going to progress towards the goal of European qualification.
How excited are you by Everton’s signing of Tyrique George on a permanent deal? Can he really kick on now after his loan?
The deal is now official, with the Toffees paying an initial £18m, with £6m to come in potential add-ons… ✅
Everton have been able to bring in two signings during the early stages of this summer’s market, with Tyrique George returning permanently and Hayden Hackney secured from Middlesbrough.
The Toffees are missing their World Cup representatives still and will be without Jordan Pickford for a while longer as England face Norway in the quarter-finals.
As some of the players return to Finch Farm for the early stages of pre-season, here are three things Everton News noticed from the content shared by the club on X.

Adam Aznou returns to Everton for pre-season efforts
Make no mistake about it, Adam Aznou is contracted to return to Finch Farm to work with the squad during pre-season.
However, with so much speculation surrounding his future, it was interesting to see the way he was embraced by his teammates.
It has been suggested that Everton will listen to offers for Aznou over the coming weeks and months following his frustrating first 12 months on Merseyside.
Merlin Rohl officially signs permanently! 🚨 Happy, Everton fans? How do you see him fitting in best?
He has strong competition for minutes in midfield with the likes of Garner, Hackney and KDH… 🤔
The young left-back did not make a single appearance in the Premier League last season under Moyes.
Aznou has been working hard away from Everton, but whether or not this proves to be enough to earn Moyes’ trust is another thing altogether.
A lot of returning players may not be here by August
It is also believed that Charly Alcaraz is ready to leave Everton, with River Plate showing interest in potentially signing him.
There are a number of other players who were shown in Everton’s footage from Finch Farm whose future is uncertain.
Dwight McNeil was spotted in the canteen. The midfielder could be set for an exit following his failed move back in the winter.
And then there is Thierno Barry, who has also received interest this summer.
It has been suggested that RB Leipzig are showing interest in Barry following just 12 months on Merseyside after his move from Villarreal.
What was interesting to note from the training footage is how Alcaraz, Barry and Aznou had stuck together in the gym on the exercise bikes.
The nature of their conversations would have been interesting.
Tyler Dibling back to show David Moyes what he can offer
During the 2025/26 season, Moyes said Dibling has a big pre-season ahead of him to showcase just what he can bring to this Everton side.
Now is the time for Dibling to show Moyes what he has been working on behind the scenes.
It was certainly a testing opening 12 months on Merseyside for Dibling having been involved in a drawn-out transfer saga.
Dibling played just 350 minutes of Premier League football last seaosn, which will have done his development no help at all.
Ironically, RB Leipzig are also keen on Dibling this summer, which may be a sign that actually Everton have some quality in their ranks.
The youngster was seen being evaluated by one of the Everton coaches using a leg strength measuring machine.
A lot of Everton fans will be rooting for Dibling.
