Everton are in the market to add a new striker over the summer transfer window.

There have certainly been some encouraging signs under David Moyes, but it is also apparent that more firepower is needed when the market opens.

Beto has impressed some Everton fans as he has filled in for the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But the Portuguese striker has found himself struggling of late in the Premier League.

It will be the first summer transfer window on Merseyside for the Friedkins, and Everton are targeting a new striker as well as many other additions.

And there is one striker on the radar who Everton defender James Tarkowski has already pocketed in their earlier meeting this season.

James Tarkowski won his battle against Everton target Liam Delap

Everton are showing an interest in Liam Delap alongside a large portion of the current Premier League sides.

The striker is going to be available for sale this summer, with Ipswich Town looking likely to be heading back down to the Championship.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has remembered Tarkowski’s dominant display against the youngster earlier in the season.

“He has everything. I think my biggest concern is his temperament, he gets caught up in trying to prove he’s physically stronger than everybody,” said Deeney.

“I remember Tarkowski at Everton earlier on in the season. First couple of minutes, Tarkowski gave him a little bit, for the rest of the game, he was out of it because he just wanted to get him back. That’s a bit of immaturity and that’ll come as he grows.”

Everton have seen Manchester City snub a return for Delap despite holding a buy-back clause in his contract.

Competition is going to be fierce for the Ipswich striker, but it seems Deeney feels there is still plenty of room for improvement as he develops.

Liam Delap struggled against Everton and Tarkowski

In what was a difficult start to the season for the Blues under Sean Dyche, Everton did pick up three big points away to Ipswich.

It was not exactly a game to remember for Delap who was unable to get much change out of Tarkowski and Michael Keane.

But this is a still a striker who has really impressed in his first full season as a Premier League starter.

Delap has outperformed all of Everton’s strikers and is a player being tipped for a huge future.

Big questions remain over the frontline with Beto now being linked with a summer exit from Everton as clubs have registered their interest.

Scoring goals consistently has been a huge problem for Everton and adding a player of Delap’s potential could be a huge coup.
