Everton are viewing Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell as a potential opportunity in the transfer market.

There is now just over four days remaining for Everton to bring in some players to bolster their squad for the remainder of the term.

It has proven a struggle for the Friedkins in their first transfer window on Merseyside.

Some slack should be given considering they landed at Goodison Park just a matter of days before the winter transfer market opened.

The Friedkins have been keen to sign two players at Everton to improve the squad David Moyes has to battle the threat of relegation.

Injuries are making the need for new faces even more important and one position Everton are lacking options is at left-back.

Everton target Ben Chilwell set to stay at Chelsea

With only Vitaliy Mykolenko as the senior left-back at Goodison, Everton have shown interest in Chilwell this month.

The 28-year-old’s future in west London is hanging by a threat with Enzo Maresca not favouring the former Leicester City man.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea sources now expect Chilwell to remain at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.

The left-back is not expected to come back into Maresca’s thinking with a severe lack of game time hindering his campaign.

This could change if a club is to make a late move for him.

Chelsea have expected Everton to move for Chilwell but the Toffees may now view their priorities away from left-back.

Severe injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala have really put scrutiny on the Friedkins to bolster Moyes’ squad.

Everton are risking burning out Vitaliy Mykolenko

Having recently beaten Tottenham Hotspur the other week, Everton should really learn some lessons from their mistakes.

Ange Postecoglou’s side has lost a number of their players through injuries which may well have came about through a lack of squad depth.

Dominic Solanke has been their only fit striker for months and he has now suffered a non-contact injury in training.

A similar comparison can be drawn to Mykolenko who has started all 20 of his appearances in the Premier League.

Mykolenko is in talks over a new Everton contract but he needs some support with a real lack of options in the left-back spot.
