Everton have been hit with a slight issue heading into the summer regarding one of their main sponsors.

Big changes have hit Merseyside over the last couple of months with The Friedkin Group taking over at Everton.

The American owners have also made a change at management level with Sean Dyche being replaced by David Moyes.

With the ship steadied in the Premier League, Everton are looking ahead to their long-term future with the club’s finances a real concern.

Moving stadium could hand Everton a £17m revenue boost with an increase on the club’s annual matchday takings.

However, there has now been a major issue unfold involving their main shirt sponsor which is completely out of their control.

Everton need to find a new shirt sponsor

It looks as if Everton are going to need to find a new front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with their current deal expected to be cancelled.

Due to United Kingdom licenses, Everton’s current sponsor is set to be banned from operation.

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s finance expert Adam Williams has shared his understanding on how this could come as a blessing in disguise for the Toffees.

“As I understand it, there is a break clause in the contract at that point anyway,” he said.

“What’s more, the fact that Everton have briefed that they aren’t going to replace the brand suggests that they have received the money upfront.

“We’ve seen the likes of Chelsea and Spurs sign deals in recent seasons with sleeve sponsors who haven’t been able to fulfil their obligations, but they haven’t got the money upfront so have rebadged their shirts, for example.

“So, while it is undoubtedly a hit from a PR perspective, it shouldn’t have too detrimental an impact financially.”

Everton expect Bramley-Moore Dock to transform their finances and adding to it with a new statement sponsor deal could really propel the club forward.

Everton’s new stadium will encourage new sponsorship opportunities

Coming out of the January transfer window, Kevin Thelwell has admitted more money will be available at Everton in the summer market.

Only one player was brought in over the winter window with Carlos Alcaraz signing on an initial loan deal.

Moyes admitted PSR had hit Everton hard and even surprised him by what he had taken on from the old regime.

But bringing in a big new shirt sponsorship deal could well see the Toffees provide themselves with a big PSR boost going forward.

“Everton’s leverage with new sponsors increases overnight once they are playing at Bramley Moore Dock too,” Williams added.

“Aston Villa and Newcastle are getting £20-25m per season at present. I see no reason why Everton can’t match that.

“It also wouldn’t be a surprise to see stadium naming rights rolled into that deal, in which case I think you could be pushing £35-40m. Any naming rights deal would be at least 10 years, as the CEO has said, so that could theoretically be £350-400m of guaranteed commercial income for Everton.”
