Everton have sacked manager Sean Dyche and replaced him with former boss David Moyes.

Moyes is set to take charge of Everton’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening on his return to Goodison Park.

The Toffees have been assembling Moyes’ backroom staff over the last few days, with Billy McKinlay, Alan Irvine and Leighton Baines set to be confirmed.

Whilst that process unfolds, the recruitment team remain hard at work identifying a number of domestic and overseas targets.

Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters is believed to be a target for Everton whilst Brighton striker Evan Ferguson continues to be linked.

The Toffees are also keeping tabs on a centre-back in Spain and the latest development on his chase has just emerged.

Everton waiting for reply from Real Valladolid for Juma Bah

Everton made contact to sign Real Valladolid’s Juma Bah a few weeks ago and have been going head-to-head with Manchester City for his signature.

The 18-year-old centre-back, labelled a ‘rising star‘, has enjoyed a terrific breakout season in La Liga and has been subjected to interest across the continent, including the Premier League.

That said, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Everton are still waiting to hear back from Valladolid along with Crystal Palace.

Nixon notes that the Toffees are hoping to receive encouragement in their bid to land Bah but at this stage, it appears Man City have stolen a march.

Inter Milan, Lens and Fenerbahce have also made contact for the Sierra Leone man.

Everton should prioritise forwards

It’s quite baffling the fact Everton are looking at signing a centre-back considering how well-stocked they are in that area.

Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowksi, Michael Keane and Jake O’Brien provide plenty of depth and quality in that area.

So instead of signing Bah, Moyes should help lead the search for some quality attackers to solve the current goalscoring woes.

It’s understood Everton are close to signing Ernest Nuamah, so they should focus on finalising that deal and then going for a prolific centre-forward, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to leave.
