Everton fans think they’ve spotted David Moyes’ first major mistake after Brentford draw

Everton fans think they have already spotted something slightly worrying after their draw away to Brentford.

David Moyes was left feeling his side may well have dropped two more points after their draw on the weekend against Manchester United.

The Toffees had their chances to walk away with all three points against the Bees, with Beto enjoying the majority of the opportunities in front of gosl.

Everton are now seven games unbeaten in the Premier League and sit 15 points clear of the bottom three.

But there are some weaknesses showing to some Everton fans lately, which they would like to see improved ahead of next week’s game.

Everton fans call out Charlie Adam’s set pieces

Moyes was left frustrated by some of the Everton crosses during the draw against Thomas Frank’s side on Wednesday.

The Toffees conceded from a set piece, which the fans were not pleased about in the slightest.

After hiring Charlie Adam in January as the set piece coach, it seems a number of the fans are failing to see any improvements on Merseyside.

It’s apparent @domefc23 has not been impressed with the Scots effect: ‘Set pieces have been so poor, what is Charlie Adam teaching them as set-piece coach???’ Whilst @jamesefc17 added: ‘Feels like we’re much worse at set pieces since we got Charlie Adam in.’

Moyes was delighted to hire Adam as his set-piece coach earlier in the year.

But it seems the feeling isn’t shared by @exquisite_edge, who said: ‘Imagine bringing in Charlie Adam and still producing s—e set pieces’. He was not alone in criticising Adam as @gagsy1978 sarcastically said: ‘Tell you what Charlie Adam is proper earning his dough isn’t he’.

Harrison put in a dreadful corner, which @craighunter67 jokingly slammed: ‘Did Charlie Adam teach that one’. Moyes’ telling reaction to that corner also saw @morganefc respond with: ‘Watching any of Everton’s set pieces’.

David Moyes was furious with Everton conceding a set piece

Everton were praised for their set pieces earlier in the season with Dwight McNeil playing a big role in their attacking situations.

However, their ability to defend set pieces is coming under question having also conceded from a free kick on the weekend.

Speaking after the game, Moyes admitted he was not pleased with how his side conceded from the set piece.

“We gave away a really poor goal from the long throw right before half-time,” said Moyes.

“If you come to Brentford, you’re well aware of those aspects of their game because they’re very good at it. We did – it might not have looked like it – prepare well and organised well, we thought. So to go one down I thought the boys were terrific in the second half.”
