Everton’s attempts to sign midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus are progressing this week.

David Moyes will be keen to see Angus Kinnear get to work over the coming days to provide him with some new faces for the start of the season.

It has been a difficult market for Everton to operate in this summer.

With four players through the door, Moyes has admitted he wants nine new players signed ahead of the transfer deadline in September.

Everton are showing a strong interest in Luiz, who looks set to depart Juventus before the summer ends.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit and there is plenty of interest also coming from Nottingham Forest.

Everton and Nottingham Forest make fresh Douglas Luiz contact

Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Luiz will definitely leave Juventus this summer.

The midfielder’s time in Turin has come to an end, which was not helped by him missing training to push through a move.

Taking to social media, Romano has now claimed both Everton and Nottingham Forest have been in touch with Luiz’s camp over recent days.

Luiz is keen to return to the Premier League, but it seems as if the battle has not yet been won by Everton.

The Toffees have already lost out to other rivals this summer, and Moyes will be keen to get his man this time around.

Moyes has personally requested that Everton sign Luiz. So, his disappointment will be evident if the player lands elsewhere.

It is believed Everton hope their new stadium attracts players this summer, but Forest can boast Europa League football.

Everton need to pull out all the stops and sign Luiz

It is now deep into the summer transfer market and Moyes is shocked by the lack of Everton business done so far.

With a frustrated manager, who is not mincing his words, the Friedkins need to get some optimism pumped back into the club ahead of the curtain raiser.

Adding a player like Luiz would not only boost the squad, but it could also act as a statement of intent to any other potential targets.

Malick Fofana is delaying a move to Everton as he wants to play Champions League football.

Seeing a player of Luiz’s quality could be enough to convince players like Fofana that the project at Everton is one to get on board with.
