Everton want to push through with a potential deal for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz.

David Moyes has been forced to be patient in the summer transfer window, with summer additions few and far between on Merseyside.

Defensive reinforcement has been provided this week at Everton through the signing of Adam Aznou, though.

Everton are now plotting a move to sign Luiz, with his time at Juventus hanging by a thread as strong interest arrives from the Premier League.

The Toffees are going to have to pull out all the stops to land the midfielder, with Luiz urged to join Manchester United instead of Everton.

With his future up for debate, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update following fresh quotes to emerge from Turin.

Everton target Douglas Luiz will leave Juventus this summer

Luiz has given the green light to Everton to come and sign him from the Old Lady.

It is a move that Moyes will be pushing now after Luiz skipped Juventus training in an attempt to push through an exit from Turin.

However, the midfielder has since returned to training, with the Juventus director Damien Comolli admitting Luiz has now apologised to his teammates.

“Douglas Luiz disrespected his teammates and the whole group. He apologised right after,” he said.

Adding to the comments, Romano claimed it is certain that Luiz will leave Juventus at some stage in the summer window.

Moyes has personally asked for Luiz’s signing, with midfield additions high on his agenda ahead of the 1 September deadline.

It is clear that Luiz is set for a move, and it does appear the Premier League will be his destination. Now, it is time for Angus Kinnear to get Moyes his man.

Everton face nervous wait in Luiz race

Nottingham Forest are also keen to sign Luiz from Juventus.

Throughout the entirety of the summer window, Everton have faced some real competition from Premier League rivals for their targets.

Everton lost out on Liam Delap to Chelsea right at the start of June, but they will be determined not to lose out to Forest with Luiz.

Wednesday night highlighted the need for more depth in midfield, and adding Luiz would be a real coup for the Toffees.

However, losing out on him to a Premier League rival would be a real blow.
